About
Speech Communication Assistance by
Telephone, Inc

This website is maintained by Speech Communication Assistance by Telephone, Inc (SCT).  We are a nonprofit organization (501c3) dedicated to helping people with speech disabilities learn to use the telephone with the assistance of Speech-to-Speech.  Our 2007 goals are:

Update National Survey of Speech-to-Speech Use.  In 2002 an estimated 200,000 calls were made nationwide.  In order to guarantee quality and continued service, statistical data must be updated.  No other organization is compiling these data.  We plan to have the survey available this year and   present the information to the Federal Communications Commission, the agency that mandates Speech-to-Speech.

Establish Projects to Identify and Train Consumers.  In cooperation with Independent Living Centers, we have already begun this process in many areas.  We are assisting these agencies with grant writing to obtain local funding for these projects. A consumer self-training module will be available on this site.

Educate Consumers and Professionals At Disability Conferences and    Conventions Throughout the Year.  SCT provides workshops, presentations, as well as practical training at these forums.  We will attend 10 events in 2007.  SCT also provides speakers for any interested groups free of charge.

Provide Information Via our Website.  You can learn more about our organization at http//www.speechtospeech.org.

To achieve these goals, we must raise approximately $30,000 for during 2007.  We gratefully accept donations sent to:
