New Web-Based
Telephone Service For People with Speech Disabilities
SITRIS is a new web-based telephone assistance service for people with speech disabilities. I urge everyone to try SITRIS at www.mysitris.com. Beginning at $9.95 per month, SITRIS offers 100 minutes of local and national calling.
SITRIS works well for me when I first go to the SITRIS website and direct that site (through my keyboard) to call STS. When the phone begins to ring at STS, so does the speakerphone sitting next to my PC. After the STS CA initiates my call, I can both speak to my caller through the CA and type to the caller on my PC. That is, I can speak the words that I say easily and the CA repeats them. Other words I can type and the SITRIS speech synthesizer will say them for me. The combination of SITRIS and STS works better for me than either one by itself.
For fast typists who now use HCO, SITRIS (used alone without TRS) will be especially useful as no CA is necessary.
